40 Days of Prayer
   March 22, 2004

We Must Do What Jesus said!
(part 5)

"…the workers are few"
"…(ask God) to send out workers into His harvest.
(see Matt 9:37-38)

See what Jesus sees--Do what Jesus said do.

First, we prayed that God would help us see the harvest. Now, we are doing what Jesus instructed us to do: we are praying that He will…SEND OUT workers into His harvest.

In the next chapter Matthew records that Jesus summoned His disciples (Matt. 10:1), gave them instructions and sent them out. Do we believe that God is sending us? Do we really believe that God works through us?

The Scripture says that God is at work in us. Is God is at work in you? Look at this verse:

"for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure." (Phil. 2:13)

As He works in us, He plans to work through us:

"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God has prepared before-hand, that we should walk in them." (Eph. 2:10)

"For we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us…" (2 Cor. 5:20)

As Easter Weekend approaches, we are mindful of the fact that God is working in people's hearts. Deep down inside they know that they should consider going to a worship service. Therefore, this is a time to let God work through us as He sends us next door, to the next desk at work, to the locker beside ours…into His harvest.

Father,
We know that You are at work in us. We also know that Your plan is to work through us.
So, we pray that You will give us a sense of being sent into Your harvest. Send us to people that You have already prepared to hear the message of Your love and the purpose You fulfilled in sending Christ.

I pray in Jesus' Name, Amen
